FIRST LEGO® League

Several FIRST LEGO® League teams from the towns of Weare and Hopkinton participated in competitions this year. These teams include Team 5278: the Yappin' Yodas of Hopkinton, Team 3144: the Techno Titans, Team 3143: the Cosmic Creators, Team 629: We AreBots, and Team 2557: We AreGeeks of Weare. The members of Oz-Ram Robotics hope these students will eventually join our team when they reach middle school and high school age.

The FIRST LEGO® League is extremely important to the FIRST program. It allows children to experiment with designing and programming robots from a young age. If the students enjoy the LEGO® League program, they have the opportunity to participate in the FIRST Robotics Competition when they are older. When the LEGO® League teams visited us one day, they demonstrated routines for their robots. We were amazed at how the robots were able to follow a preprogrammed route and perform certain tasks without any human interference. These skills will make the Lego League students valuable team members in the future when they can program the FRC robot to compete in the 15 second autonomous mode during the competition.
